A native New Yorker, Ed moved to Minneapolis in 1980 after graduating from the University of Vermont where he earned his BS in Environmental Studies and Plant and Soil Science.  He started Phillips Garden in 1985 from the basement of his home in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis.   With a keen interest in modern design and a broad knowledge of plant material, Ed has installed a host of interesting landscapes throughout the Twin Cites and New England. He shares his time between Minneapolis and Vermont, where he lives and runs a plant nursery, Rocky Dale Gardens, specializing in hard-to-find and unusual plants.
